Love is Strange

“I don’t care if Lakshmi eats or not anymore! I am done with her”, screamed the wife.

The husband looked up from his newspaper and asked “Have you tried changing the menu, dear?”

“I have tried all traditional and modern foods but she still does not budge. And she appears to be sulking all day long. If only she could speak or write, we will know what is bothering her.”

“Maybe we should setup an appointment with the doctor again.”

“He has already checked her twice and has found nothing wrong with her.”

“Should we go for another opinion?”

“No.”

“What does your mother say?”

“She thinks that Lakshmi is pining for Ramu!”

“What nonsense! These oldies are so sentimental.”

“I will not be so quick to dismiss it as nonsense. Ramu went away three days ago and ever since she has been like this.”

“OK. Let us see. Ramu should be back the day after tomorrow.”

Two days later…

“Wonder of wonders! Lakshmi has started eating like there is no tomorrow. She is also positively glowing now!”

“Wow that is great. Even though I hate to admit it, your mother was right this time.”

“She is always right.”

“Who knew that a cow could be so attached to her partner that she could not bear his absence for a few days?”
