Fast-unto-death or FUD
1. What is Fast-unto-Death?
Originally, a tool employed by noble souls to fight against injustice meted out to the public. Now, a tool for the out-of-power politician for getting some cheap publicity.
2. How many people have died through FUD?
Not many. In fact, I have heard of only one person who really died of FUD (over some struggle for a separate state or something).
3. Why is the hit-rate so low in FUD?
Due to the overwhelming desire of the FUDer for staying alive!
4. How does one come out of a FUD situation honourably?
a) By proudly stating that the goal is achieved even when nothing has really changed.
b) By citing references to president's/prime minister's/party men's request for giving up the FUD
c) By getting admitted to a hospital when things become too hot to handle
5. How does a FUD really end?
A real FUD, as the name suggests, should end with the death of the FUDer. However, as statistics shows, the probability of this happening is next to zero. So, actually a FUD ends with the FUDer sipping a glass of juice (given by a child or a famous personality) while flashing a victory sign.
6. What are some tips for budding FUDers?
a) FUD is not for every Tom, Dick and Harry. If you don't have sufficient clout or following never go on a FUD. It could get you killed.
b) Work out an exit strategy (or strategies) before embarking on a FUD.
c) Pay special attention to requests from top people for giving up the FUD. You may have to use that as a reason sooner or later.
d) Last, but most importantly, never FUD on an empty stomach:)

And I wonder why FUD has become more and more a pastime of choice for the female of the species, any hyposthesis?
